how much do legacy and alum matter
by: rushiefor rush in the fall how much does legacy status matter? my mom was in xo but i dont want to get cut from all of the other houses just bc im a legacy for another one

you definitely won’t get cut from other houses just because you’re a legacy for a specific sorority. but you also aren’t guaranteed the house that you’re a legacy to. honestly just depends on the house but i see less and less sororities taking legacies, so it doesn’t really matter.
#2by: Don't count on it.

"Most sororities no longer recognize legacies, so don't count on being a legacy to help you."
That may be true in one of the bottom feeders.
The more sought after Sororities still do recognize legacies. It does not mean a basket case legacy gets in but it is as big as any other factor in becoming part of the sorority.
#4by: it kinda matters
My mom and my sister were both in the same house and that's where I ended up. In my situation, the fact that I had a sister who graduated the year before I came through rush made a huge difference because girls in other houses knew her so they knew that I already had ties to that chapter. That's not to say that I got cut from everything except the house I ended up in because I had just as good of a rush as everyone else (and I would've chosen where I am regardless), but I think it definitely made a difference in who kept me and who didn't. If you go through recruitment with an open mind and forget about all the legacy bs, you'll end up where you are meant to be.
