How Hard Is It To Rush OOS
by: pnmHow hard is it to rush at LSU and join a top sorority if you’re from the north? Do you absolutely have to be from the south for a top house?

I found it pretty difficult during the rush process coming from out of state. Connections and where you are from do play a huge role during rush. Having people vouch for you from within is how many girls get bids. Don’t make being in a top house your biggest priority. I found that I actually liked the houses that had more people from other states so that I could relate to them.

So cob (continuous open biding) happens at lsu and I highly recommend because the odds that you will make it in top tier are very low so and a good amount of middle/ Lower do cob. In this process it’s more about you as a person vs who you know and where you are from. It happens after formal recruitment for the sororities that didn’t make quota and also in the spring

it isn't impossible to get into a top sorority from oos but it is difficult. that being said some tops do want a few out of state girls. though connections def matter in rush theres also an advantage to being oos. ur kinda in ur own field when it comes to rush so u def have a chance

Extremely hard. I got dropped by almost all top houses but one the first in person round bc I have no connections here at all. However I am very happy where I ended up bc I like being in a house where not everyone is from the same place. I went into recruitment w no knowledge of the rankings of each house and I’m glad I did

Agreed unless you are a legacy or know people currently in the sorority it is usually unlikely. Coming from out of state I only got to visit one top house after the first round.
