What does ranking really mean ?

So I have seen all of these posts about the ranking but when I’ve talked to the girls who are in houses they say it really doesn’t matter. I am wondering what the rankings actually mean if you choose a house. Like what does it mean if you choose a lower tier house? Like what are the rankings really used for and is it social suicide to be in a lower tier? I’m genuinely wondering ?

Absolutely not social suicide. After recruitment no one cares about the ranking of the houses. All the houses have similar events and interact with all the fraternities. Really the ranking has to do with exclusivity during recruitment and that’s it.

i can promise you that one week after bid day when everyone stops asking what house everybody went to… literally no one cares what sorority you are in
