You rank your choice and your choices rank you. If you don’t make the chapters next round list you won’t get called back. You can get called back to a chapter that you didn’t want as your first choices either. Chapters are essentially cutting you. You can get as little as 1 invite back to a chapter for the next round, to as many as whatever the max is. Depends on the person.

@no has it right. Will add the only times a PNM’s ranking really matters is #1 if you have more than the allowable # of invites to the next round (if so PHC will only let you return to the houses you had ranked as a “1”) and #2 after Pref. Your Gamma Chis will explain all this to you before rounds start.
