when you go through rush and are a decently, cool guy you will easily be able to distinguish the good from the bad houses. there are 3 rounds split into 3 consecutive days. day 1 you go to all the houses, day 2 you go the 6 that you liked to most (granted they invite you back), and day 3 you go to 3 houses. then after you rank the 3 in order that you liked the most. personally IMO, unless you are a legacy you will most likely choose the house based on the 2-3 guys that you liked the most that rushed you. that is what i did in my case and was happy with my choice. anyhow, you are NOT going to go wrong if you end up in any of the houses mentioned below.
