Ummm that's literally what you call it. "Why did Susie Q. drop?" "She had to drop due to financial reasons."

She's not a brat. That's the most polite way to put it. "She had to drop because she's broke" would be a much more rude, bratty and inaccurate way to say that. Sometimes things happen, and people just don't have extra money to spend on their sorority anymore. It happens.

It matters to some houses. When I rushed, a house asked one of the girls in my group what her dad did. She told them that he was a sanitation worker. (He's a very well known surgeon.) Needless to say, neither one of us pledged that house~ by choice. She was one of the most chill pledge sisters and has the best sense of humor. We still laugh about it!
