An alum just told me that girls from Louisiana who didn't attend private school won't get a bid. How true is this? I'm from NOLA and didn't go to private school.

not true! It will most likely be more difficult for them to find out about you but if you have a rec letter and have a good conversation in a house, you will most likely be invited back. best of luck

Are there any girls from your hs that are in sororities at LSU? If so, that would probably be your best bet as you'd know them and they found a sorority home with your same background.

Benjamin Franklin is a public school in NO. You have to take an entrance exam and have a certain IQ to be admitted. Something tells me you (commenter 2) wouldn't know much about IQ levels.

No really. sacred heart, mount carmel, country day, domincan, THAT'S where you go if you're from a good family in New Orleans. Trust me.

HAHAHAHAHA @4. You go to Newman, Country Day, St. Martin's, or Sacred Heart if you are from a good family in New Orleans. CLEARLY #4, you are not from the area.

New Orleans is not the only city in Louisiana! Let's face it the top girls are from Bossier/Shreveport, Laffytaffy and Lake Charles. Just ask ChiO, DDD and KD.

You are seriously mistaken if you think that catholic school education is better than the magnet schools in the area like Haynes Academy(#1 in Louisiana)/ Ben Franklin(#2 in Louisiana) /Thomas Jefferson/ Patrick Taylor. The education at the catholic institutions is arguably inferior as many of them don't even have AP classes. Unfortunately private education does not equal better education. The top public schools in the state (and country) are located in SW LA.

You are seriously mistaken . All Catholic schools have AP classes and my parents sacrificed so much for me to attend a fabulous school in SW LA. Plus they teach morality and foster our Faith.

i know plenty of great girls (including myself) form public schools in LA that rushed at LSU and got into good sororities! just make sure to put your best foot forward. if you represent yourself well, your upbringing doesn't really need to be called into question. Good Luck!!!
