do i have a chance at a bid if i'm a bit different?
by: honeyBy being a bit different, I mean that I'm not what you think of when you think of a girl involved in Greek life. (I don't mean this in a nasty way, I'm referring to stereotypes put forth by the media). I have a high GPA, am a sophmore in my major due to AP credits from highschool, and have been described as a "gentle soul". I'm an avid traveler, and I love to take pictures, read, and bake. Do I have any chance of getting a bid, particulary from Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta, Delta Gamma, or Pi Beta Phi? I'm keeping an open mind, but I love their philanthropies.

are there girls from your high school who are in those sororities who like you or feel connected to you? and are you a legacy anywhere?

The girls like me and have told me that they think I'm really sweet. One of them who is a Phi Mu has parents who are my dad's best friends, and we've known eachother for over 8 years. We're not close, but she knows who I am and my good qualities. I'm not a legacy anywhere, which made me give up a chance to be a Chi O or a Tri Delt, even though I like their philanthropies as well.

You are going to have the best chance at a house where you have connections. The connection can be that your mom was a member at that house or that you went to high school with a ton of the members or it can be that one girl's dad is your dad's best friend. You just need to have your dad talk to him and reiterate the connection. The girls that do the best have connections. You rarely hear about a girl coming out of nowhere from someplace random who gets into a top sorority. There are just so many good/pretty/rich/homecoming queen/valedictorian girls coming through that every house can have great girls in their chapters. But you have to stand out and connections help you do that.
