new frat rules
by: Checking inI go to another SEC school where alcohol rules are being tightened on frats. Are the new rules at LSU loose enough to still have fun at the frat houses, or do members go to bars or off-campus houses to party?

I agree it's too early to know for sure what the standard practice will be, but we are treating it seriously. We have told our members that you must be 21 to drink. But, we do it as an honor system, meaning that we don't check the ages of who is drinking. And we have members who are designated to watch for any members who have had too much to drink at parties. Only beer and wine is officially allowed in the house. Also, we tell our members to serve themselves so that no one can be guilty of serving alcohol to a minor. Finally, we encourage all members to drink out of cups so that no one can know for sure what someone is drinking when viewed from a distance, and we've discussed that anyone who may have a problem with underage drinking should disappear from the house at the sign of the first cop.
