tell your story!
by: ;)ACTIVES! Share your rush story! Without naming houses, talk about your experience. How many houses were you cut from after each round, did you end up going where you imagined yourself before recruitment, etc, but MOST IMPORTANTLY how happy you are where you ended up! PNM's need some inspiration to trust the process.

I went into rush really hoping for this one particular house and after I went through two rounds with them I realized I didn't actually "click" with the girls I was talking to and I was deciding to go back only because of what i thought they'd be like. Once I realized that I was able to better consider the other houses instead of just focusing on this one i didn't belong in. Ended up preffing two houses that i felt SO comfortable in, and on bid day got a bid from my home! Can not imagine being in any other house now.

as an active, I'll tell you straight up, screw "the process." the process only really works for girls who actually have a reasonable number of houses after each round. when I went through recruitment, I thought it would be a breeze for me because I had a 4.0 in high school, a high score on my ACT, I was in multiple clubs and the captain of multiple teams, had great recs, I volunteered hours upon hours of my time to different services, and I only had one house left come sisterhood. My "process" went from 11 to 4 to 1 in the first three rounds. I'm in the sorority I had left, and I enjoy the friends I've made there, but I do truly feel as though my personality doesn't fit with the girls I'm surrounded by. Some people will go through recruitment and realize that Greek life just isn't for them. I'm going into my third year in my sorority and I can honestly say that I've never had that stereotypical "my sisters will be my bridesmaids" moment and some people never will. That is something that we do need to acknowledge so as to not mislead or get the hopes of pnm's too high, or else it will be even more crushing when they are cut from the place that did feel like home when they walked through the door
