low gpa rush outcomes ???
by: soph rusheeeeeefor my fall semester of my freshman year i studied in florida. however i did not do well because i was going through family things that made it very hard for me to do my best. i ended up making a 3.0 that semester and then for the spring semester i wanted a new start and transferred to LSU! i lived in miller and told many girls i wanted to rush but they all scared me to the point that i had to make this post to find out some truth.. unfortunately i did poorly my spring semester freshman year too also bc of having a hard time making friends and the fact i had to adjust becuz you know, transfer student and all. point is i failed a class but applied for grade exclusion. when registering for rush i mentioned this however so the chapters know i plan to retake the class this semester! with my dual enrollment from high school + my transfer credit from florida + my LSU credit this past semester i have a 3.09 gpa... will this make it hard for me to get into a sorority?? which houses can i expect to cut me? also, if i explain my situation so that they understand, would they be willing to consider giving me a chance to bring my grades up/prove myself ? my major is biology so could that also cut me some slack? also i know they like to cut sophomores (as i found out from some new friends in sororities this past semester, they're in kd, tri delt, chi o, pi phi, adpi) but its not like i had the choice to rush at LSU from the very start since i am a transfer student/was going through family things, can this help my situation? so many questions but just scared bc of everything my new friends have been saying, so if someone could please answer !!!!!! keep in mind I'm from florida originally so i don't know much about LSU rush

Hmmm not from LSU but does anyone know about this? Lol I wanna help this girl but don't want to give her the wrong information. I'm thinking if you have a good personality, friends in the sorority to root for you, are pretty, dress cute, interesting, etc, they may not cut you regardless of the GPA and the fact you're a sophomore. However, someone pls clarify and share advice and input as I do not know what the chapters are like at LSU. Also, at my school 3.09 would be acceptable for every sorority, but I do not know each chapter's gpa requirements at LSU. Hope this helps!

If you want to part of LSU Greek Life, go for it. Just be aware some will cut you just because you are a sophomore. No rhyme or reason, they just do. Don't let this get you down, just know it wasn't meant to be for those sororities. I believe some of the newer sororities will accept you (ADPi and APhi) and probably Zeta and Theta. Your grades are not stellar, but believe you will be fine. Good luck!

but what if i know i will probably be in university for another 4 years? (this is because like i said, i have a 3.09 and i want to bring it up as much as possible and I'm also thinking of adding another major from a different college, lsu's mass comm school) could sororities knowing this help me? should i let them know when I'm rushing that even tho I'm a sophomore i plan on at least 3 1/2 more years there for sure, potentially 4? also, like i asked, will having a 3.09 affect me badly when rushing as a sophomore?
