chi omega quota
by: Rumor?I know a few girls from my high school that went Chi O. I'm now hearing that they didn't make quota this year. I've always thought that they were top tier. Is this true, or a nasty rumor started by another house?

is this why the "lower" sororities started improving in 2014 by getting their top choices even if the girl didn't want them?

I do not know what year LSU started using RFM, but they do use it now. As far as PNM's getting houses that they don't want, they shouldn't ever put down a house on their MRBRA that they wouldn't want to be placed in. They are told that it is very possible that they may not get their first choice. Getting their first choice depends on where they fall on the chapter's bid list. Without getting too detailed, if their first choice makes quota before it reaches them on the list, they are bumped to the next house that put down. I always find it funny that people want to blame the computer system for them not getting their first choice. If you were on a house's first bid list (they fill out two), and you put them first, you would have gotten a bid from them. Period.

you must not have been active at LSU during fall 2014 rush - we were told it was absolutely prohibited to leave off a house u went to for preference, even if you did not see yourself there

A PNM is always encouraged to maximize their options. This is stressed multiple times. However, they cannot be required to list a chapter. If they list every chapter where they went to pref, they are guaranteed a bid, although it may not be their first choice. If they don't maximize their options and only list one chapter, they risk not getting a bid and being cut from recruitment. I wasn't there during 2014 recruitment and don't know what was told to the PNM's, but they cannot and should never be told that they HAVE to list every chapter where they attended pref. However, they need to be strongly discouraged from not maximizing their options and aware of the risks involved.
