sorority benefits

by:

I have seen several posts from people saying they are not happy with the sorority the received a bid from. I got my second choice. Everyone says to give it a chance and over time, I might grow to love it. Now I'm wondering if I should have just suicided and then not received a bid at all so that I wouldn't have to make a choice (between dropping or staying in). My question is, what do you love about being in a sorority? Is it really worth the time and money sticking it out trying to see if I will grow to love it if it feels awkward right now? If it takes so much time to grow to love it, maybe it would be better to join something that doesn't take so much time to love. Thanks for any advice!!!

I wish everyone could get their first choice on that last day! Super uncomfortable on bid day when you have to act like you are excited about the sorority you got when you really just need time to accept the disappointment! All of the LSU sororities are great and there are great girls in every one of them, and hopefully you will get to know some of those great girls in your sorority soon!

Don't quit yet, remember you have joined something for a lifetime of benefits. Go to the house, sign up to volunteer when they ask for volunteers, go to the social events, the more you get involved the more members you will meet and hopefully something will click! If, before initiation, you still don't feel it is right, don't get initiated, but don't give up too soon. One day you may move out of state and your sorority could be a lifesaver to help you make connections and new friends in a new town.

I dropped my bid and never looked back. I got involved in a bunch of different org's on campus and met a world of cool people. I am a senior with a full phone of friends mostly non Greek but then I found these people to be more classy, nicer and all around great people. I dropped one of the top groups on campus, and I have to say besides the great friends I made, I save a bunch of money. I will be starting life with a nice nest egg and some great connections.

Drop you'll find their is a whole world out there rush never shares.

PS My mom was Greek and she said a sorority doesn't guarantee you a boyfriend or a husband. Her college roommate is still single at 57. My Baton Rouge babysitter a never married top tier sorority girl still single at 46!!!! Both of these women were in the same top tier group.

Don't believe this for a second! Tiger Fan was probably not given a bid and the whole thing about 57 year old single people ?? Really??? LSU is massive ! If you are an athlete and not in a sorority you are ok, otherwise you are lost in the crowd. Sisters are for life and they are all wonderful sororities.

True story by Tiger fan. I know both of these women. There are nice fun people outside of sororities. There are students who join Cru, LSU Ambassadors, lots of other clubs who do not get lost in the crowd. Do you have to make an effort YES!!!!

It is possible to be successful at LSU and not be Greek. This girl did get a bid. I would get crucified for naming names and I could but I will say this much she live in north Louisiana.

Quote" sisters are for life" yea keep telling yourself that. You'll find it gets harder to hang with the single ones once they or your sorority babysitters start sniffing around your frat boy husband.

Again true story!!!!
