I thought that it would be extremely useful for PNM's if I created a thread to ask me anything about Greek life. I am an active sister here at LSU and believe that I have a good view on it. I will answer pretty much any question, except ones like what house I am from.

What do you suggest pnm's do after each party during recruitment? Should we write down some of the things that stuck out to us? How did you go about organizing all the information you took in during recruitment?

it really depends on the person, if you're more visual and don't have the best memory then i'd say go ahead and try to write things down, i will say during my experience i didn't have a lot of time between parties to write stuff down, there are sections in the little booklets that you're given for each sorority to write stuff down though or you can store things in your phones notes app

Do houses discuss pnm before rush week? Like do they have girls that they are already eyeing before rushing begins?

Can someone explain what the factors are in the rankings

By: pnm
by: imo

past precedence (if a sorority has always been top, they'll stay top. so think KD), GPA, looks, involvement on campus, associations with fraternities. but none of these things matter during recruitment. rank will have nothing to do with the friends you make in whatever sorority you get into.

Don't even pay attention to rankings. If I would have gone by these ridiculous rankings I would have never spent the past 3 years with my beautiful sisters. I am not ready to graduate in May. Good luck and savor every moment. Going to cry now.😭

Do y'all care about if my makeup is perfect or my hair? Knowing with the heat it may get messed up

By: Pnm
by: yes

it definitely does matter so make such to bring powder, setting spray, concealer, etc. it's not so much as to look pretty, but the sororities want to know that you can make yourself look presentable and professional

Is it better to have social media on private or public? And how big of a role does it play during recruitment?

By: pnm
by: well

they most definitely look at social media so if you have incriminating stuff on your social media (drinking, partying, etc) i would suggest putting it on private

How common is it to be dropped by all houses?

By: hmm
by: hs

LSU usually has a placement rate (meaning you get a bid to some house) around 90% or higher. The thing about this number is that it also includes the girls who drop out of rush because they don't like the houses they have left. If you go in with an open mind, you will probably find a home. If you don't, that's ok too! LSU has a bunch of clubs and organizations that you can get involved in!

What are some good questions we can ask and topics to hit during ice round?

By: rush talk
by: well

ask about what sisterhood events they have, what other organizations people are involved in besides greek life, what kind of service opportunities are given, and honestly ask them about anything that you're worried about when it comes to recruitment. we are literally trained to answer any possible question. you shouldn't worry about hitting specific topics, just have a normal conversation, find a connection with the girl you're talking to and the convo will flow easily. especially because its the person rushing you's responsibility to keep the conversation moving, not yours
