building on the row?
by: WonderingDoes anyone know if there are any plans to rebuild or renovate the houses on Sorority Row? With more and more PNM's and bigger pledge classes it seems like there would be a need but I haven't heard anything. I know other SEC schools are in the process of rebuilding most of their houses (ie: Alabama). How would this affect the cost of being a member?

umm there's no plans to rebuild the row... LSU is practically broke with all the budget cuts so the sororities would have to fund that themselves and I don't see that coming.
And no the pledge sizes aren't getting bigger. Quota was smaller this year than it was last year.

Quota may have been smaller this year, but considering when the houses were built and the growth of chapter sizes since then you would think at some point some type of rebuilding or renovating would be necessary. Do the sorority's own their houses and land or do they rent the land?

they rent the land and own the houses. every sorority and fraternity on campus used their own money to build their house except Alpha Phi and one other one

Also, colonization is a long process so it would be well known if another sorority was coming to campus next year(which they aren't). Lsu wants to colonize a new sorority every 4 or so years and when there is room available (like when the temp house becomes vacant). They want the sororities and fraternities to be around the same size eventually. It will probably be axo next but def not next year.
