spring recruitment
by: NewbieI will be a spring transfer to TCU. I understand your main recruitment occurs in the summer before school. Does your campus offer spring recruitment and if so when does it occur? How would I become involved in spring recruitment?

Some chapters do a quiet spring recruitment, but they are usually only looking to fill a few spaces to replace the December graduates. If you know people at TCU already you should let them know that you are interested in joining a sorority.
If you don't find your place in the spring you can do Fall Recruitment. Also we will have a new sorority in the Fall, Phi Mu. People are saying that they will want older girls and not just freshmen. So that is an option for you too.

This is a good (and rare) options for older girls who want the chance to hold leadership positions.

People get in to top houses quietly during spring recruitment every year. There are only a few slots so you do have to know people but I would highly recommend trying this.

It is strong to get a spring bid if you don't know the girls in the house because spring has limited spaces plus it's more who you know. Spring recruitment can get you in to some strong houses though. If a group has December graduates and transfers they will fill those slots-even top groups. You may want to contact Panhellinic Council for info on how to get involved with the new Phi Mu colony that will come next fall. They will be looking for older girls for leadership positions.

If you know girls in any house talk to them because you can get into strong houses this way if you know the right people

If you have a connection to a house then let people know you are interested in spring break. It is doubtful they will come seek you out. It is not true that only less desirable houses have spring recruitment though. Everything depends on their retention rate and things like graduation and transfers do not mean a house is not good. Spring can be a better requitment time than fall if you know the correct people.

If you are new to campus and don't know people you can contact the houses directly but it may be hard because there are only open lots from those that graduate or drop and normally they choose people they know. You might want to spend your first semester getting to know people and learning about what houses are like and then go through as a sophomore in the fall
