phi mu
by: frawgare there any expectations for how phi mu will be once they're on campus?

We certainly need another chapter. That said, it is always tough to start off a new group because competition is high and it takes an effort to earn a positive reputation. If they have solid leaders they will do fine but expect it yo be a few years before they get a good foothold and build relationships with other houses.

In my home state there are two major public universities. At one of the Phi Mu closed because they got too small and couldn't attract members at all any more. They still exist at the other school but are at the very bottom of the tiers with the same sort of problem. I haven't noticed their nationals doing anything to help improve either of those chapters. If this is the trend they'll just stay where they start out.

A lot will depend on their initial class. If a lot of students and groups of friends go in and decide to pursue Phi Mu together, especially campus leaders and social/outgoing girls, they can get a quality colony class.
Phi Mu will want members from all classifications, including juniors and seniors. The older girls can serve in leadership positions, be mentors to the younger girls, and balance out the ages in the chapter. Therefore, older students on campus should strongly consider participating in Phi Mu's recruitment. It can be a excellent way to join our Greek community since formal recruitment is hard for juniors and seniors.
However, Phi Mu's recruitment is just like formal recruitment- there are no guarantees and you still have to be invited to get a bid.
If not many students attempt the colonization process then they may start out weak. The stronger all of our chapters are, the stronger our entire Greek community will be. We should want them to get a good colony class.

We have almost 1000 girls go through recruitment here and desperately need a new house. I think they will find a welcoming Grerk community and lots of girls interested in the unique opportunities which come from be a part of founding a group. It takes time to form your identity but expecting good things from PHi Mu at TCU.

I think the Greeks at TCU are excited to welcome Phi Mu. We never have enough slots with almost 1000 girls going through recruitment in the fall. If they get strong upperclass leaders they will do well. Getting to be in the founding group is a mixed bag with lots of challenges but lots of opportunities. Sending a huge frog welcome!!!!!!!!!!
