rushing as a transfer next year?

How competitive is recruitment? Are recommendations absolutely necessary?

If you will be a sophomore transfer I would suggest 2 recs per chapter. Recruitment is competitive but there is an upperclassman quota, so that will help you. Good luck and Go Frogs!

Try to get recs from your local Panhellenic, but if you can't get them still go through rush. I went through rush without them and did well. They help, but they aren't a deal breaker.

I also went through without them as a junior and had a great rush.. but they can be very helpful at some chapters!

I disagree with the answers above. I believe letters from people who actually know you are so much more impactful even if they are not from the local group. Two is a good number though.

It wouldn't be helpful to you to say that recruitment is a breeze here because it is a highly competitive environment. However, do not be discouraged because of that. It would serve you well to have 2 strong REC letters per house and if possible 2 Letters of Support as well. Can you get by without them? Yes, you can have a successful recruitment without them but it shouldn't be your goal.

It is extremely competitive here. RECS introduce you to houses before you arrive. They are a must to give yourself the best chance and anyone who claims otherwise is ill informed
