opinions on re-rushing???

by:

I need advice whether or not to drop and re rush in the fall as a sophomore. Is that at all looked down upon? Do you think my chances of getting into a different sorority that I think I'd fit in better would be better the second time around? I know Greek life is for me 100%, but recruitment was a little rough this first time around and I doubt I'm the only one who thinks this.

I would make the best of where I'm at. I would not drop out of the house I'm in. The odds of you getting a better house the second time around are really low.

If you can't fit in with any of the 250 or so girls in your house, you won't be able to fit in any better with girls in another house. I suspect you want a house with more prestige. No prestigious house will take another house's castoff next year. Sorry.

Don't re-rush. You were chosen by your sorority for a reason. Re-rushing next year will not help you get into a sorority with more prestige. I suggest you make the best of the current situation and try to overcome the fact that you think you could do better and accept your sisters and understand they care about you

True. All houses got a look at you this year when you were a freshman (the best time to rush). If they didn't want you this year, sadly, they won't want you as a sophomore either. You will find happiness in the sorority that DID want you if you open your heart and forget your prejudices.

Coming from someone who dropped out of rush freshman year when left with houses that I didn't fit in with, I would totally advise re-rushing if you're truly not happy!! Girls really do slip through the cracks the first time, and rushing as a sophomore is a totally different experience. You know way more people in the houses and they have to take a certain number of sophomores so you're competing with way less girls. I rushed again this year and ended up in a great house and had so many more options. If it's not working, it's okay to not force it and wait till next year.

there is some truth to wha your saying. if she really just slipped through the cracks, sure....but more than likely the higher tier houses just don't want her. she should make the best with where she is at.

No where does this girl say she moved up to a top house but instead to a better fit. If someone doesn't care about rank and finds her new house have the wrong values for them then trying again MIGHT work. It's a gamble.

If you have sayed with a group this long then stay with them instead of trying to re-rush. Whatever group you have, you wanted you to be their sister so be grateful and enjoy your new friends. Do what you can to make the house stronger if that's what you are worried about.

You have to throw yourself into your house or you will never fit in. If you're always thinking about re rushing you're not throwing yourself into meeting the girls and finding ones you love.
