are recs important?
by: Going greekI am an out of state girl going through recruitment this weekend. I had heard that recs were optional. Now I hear they are required and that recruitment is so competitive that you will be cut without one. My mom's friend is trying to get me as many recs as she can at this late notice. So just how important are they?

There's a lot of posts about this all over this site. I suggest reading them. They technically are optional but with so many good candidates going through they have become "required" because they can only help you stand out from the rest of the bunch. However, I know girls who did just fine without them but if I was you, I would try to get as many as you can.

Of course they will be!! Our girls are working so hard until the very day you get here and will not stop even after. The pressure is truly on us, sorority girls! Pnms basically don't have to worry about much (compared to what we deal with). Relax! You'll be fine.

Thank you! I think I will now have revs for a lot of the houses. But at this late date will they even be read before rush starts?
