I would think most PNMS are mature enough to know you always list any house that gives you an invitation back but if you don't know that this could cost getting a bid at all then you need to see this thread.

PNMS do not be unwise. List every house on your card, be polite to every house you visit because no matter how much you think you know about what you want you may end up in a completely different house. Read this and listen.

Never think you are too good for a house. Those girls have sisters and a house and you don't. There will be around 1000 beautiful, wealthy, smart girls so list everything and be friendly and humble.

You may come into recruitment believing you have a group locked already and therefore have an attitude toward other houses and even foolishly not list them all. When people claim they did not receive a bid during recruitment this is always why. You cannnot know your competition and verbal bids are wrong to give and non binding.

If you don't do this because you got a verbal bid or you think you are too good you stand a reasonable chance of getting no bid

I just want to make sure I understand this as a PNM. So if I end up at less say 3 preference parties, I should put all three on my bid card. (obviously in order of preference). If I am high enough on any of their bid lists I will end up in that sorority, but if I was not high enough on any of the three, the computer will randomly put me in one of the three. Is that right?

Pretty much. If you are high enough on any of the bid lists, you will receive a bid to the first one you're high enough on according to the way you ranked them. (So if you're not high enough on #1 but are high enough on #2, you will get a bid to your #2. If you're not high enough on #1 and #2 but are high enough on #3, you'll receive a bid to your #3.)

If you are not high enough on any of the three you ranked and you maximized your options, then the computer goes through a mathematical process to match you to one of them. It takes several factors into account including the way you ranked them, how close or over quota the three chapters are, how many members they already have, how many PNMs who didn't match are still in the "holding pool" and what chapters they ranked and how they ranked them etc. The goal is to match you to your highest choice possible while balancing the other numbers. So let's say your #1 choice has 12 other PNMs who didn't match who also ranked them number one, but your #2 choice has three other PNMs who ranked them #1 or #2, then you would probably be placed with your #2. If the numbers are more or less balanced, then you'd be placed with your #1.

The best way to approach it is knowing that you can possibly receive a bid from any of the three sororities you ranked. Understand that every single one of the sororities who invite you to preference saw something in you that made them want to give you a bid. I hope this makes sense! Good luck!

Only a really naive girl would leave any house off but if you are then read why you could end up with nothing at the end of the week. It makes you look bad to all houses.
