Is it possible for transfer students with very strong academic standing to get into a good sorority? are transfers treated different than other PNMs?

You can get into a sorority. I did. I was a junior. Also, I'm sure Phi Mu will take juniors.

Every sorority is a "good" sorority. As an older transfer, you need to keep an open mind.

do you mean more selective sororities won't be interested?

All sororities are selective. Some are not as open to PNMs who are not freshmen. You'll be lucky to get a bid anywhere. Keep an open mind.

I went through as a sophomore transfer and I did just fine. A lot of sororities won't be as welcoming because they want younger members so you do need to keep an open mind. Make sure you have letters of rec for each house because those can really help you. Also if you have a good resume and gpa that will help you out too. You pretty much want all the help you can get.

Yes, all houses have upperclass quotas to meet. If you are a strong applicant, being a Sophomore will not keep you from getting a bid to a good house. This should not worry you.

There is a smaller quota of spaces for the upperclassmen girls but all chapters will have to fill tge quota and there will be fewer girls competing for those spots. You should not let this deter you from rushing.

It really isn't a big deal. Just be prepared and go for it.

Will be okay IF you have several friends in houses already AND you have a good GPA, AND you have glowing rec letters. Most of the upperclassmen quotas are reserved for people who chapter members already know and like. Just because you know one girl in a house is hardly an automatic "in". Just remember that girls go out of state from Texas, and will transfer back to TCU because they miss being in Dallas. Their friends and moms' friends will have an edge over another non-established transfer, and there are plenty of legacies who tranfer back to TCU as sophomores, and they will still get more points in the selection process than a non-legacy. All the sororities are selective, and those with the highest return rates will need lots of compelling reasons to take you over their friend who decided not to rush freshman year.

The quota is bumped up to match the number of upperclassmen who are going through just as it is for freshman. There is no reason to worry that you cannot have a successful recruitment as an upperclassmen. If you are a good fit for a house you will be wanted. Good luck!

Absolutely, a strong transfer can get a bid to a strong house. With upperclassman quotas a good candidate is a good canidate. Welcome to TCU.
