gpa :(

My high school GPA is less than what is needed. I'm really bummed and I really wanted to go through rush. Some people are telling me to go ahead and try, but I don't want to make a fool of myself and ruin my chances for next year or Spring Rush. Any suggestions.

It will not end up well for you if you are below the GPA minimums.

Study really hard and get excellent grades your first year. Get to know a lot of sorority members and keep it classy. Then you have a chance as a sophomore.

How did you even get into TCU with such a bad GPA?

I'm not the Poster above, but I have a similar issue. I really want to go through rush, but I have below a 2.5 for High school .I went to a difficult High School. It doesn't really seem fair that I'm being punished for going to a good high school. If I were homeschooled I 'd have a 4.0.

There are a lot of PNM's who went to difficult high schools and have made the GPA and a lot more! If you are as smart as you say, you should do really well with your grades freshman year and be in a better position as a sophomore in recruitment. I don't know a single sorority that won't drop you right away with a 2.5. There are just too many amazing PNM's who have the GPA to make such a grade risk worth it. Sorry! Good luck next year!

There are also a lot of PNMs:
1) were homeschooled and have 4.0
2) had helicopter parents who used various ways to keep their kid's grades high
3) went to expensive but easy high schools

Grades are not a defining factor in how successful you will be in life.

We lose a lot of great girls because of the 2.5 grade thing. We could almost double our recruitment if Panhell made it a 2.0.

I'm glad we have standards! Panhell does not make the minimum GPA by the way, our sorority nationals do. It is a privilege to be a member and not for everyone.

I personally don't give a hoot what someone else's grades are . It is just none of my business. It is like asking for their lab reports (blood sugars, cholesterol etc). I base sisterhood based on true character. And I actually have above a 3.75, so don't go calling me names.

bring the whole chapter down. I like to surround myself with successful people, not losers who barely passed high school.

If you consider Communications Majors with all As, "successful " people, then go for it.

I had a 2.3 in high school. I skipped Rush. Got a 3.6 freshman year and got into a top sorority sophomore year. Not a big deal at all. I look at it as I only have to pay sorority dues for 3 years:) Also several houses have spring rush, so you can join then.

I agree that you should skip the formal rush coming up. Get your grades up and then go through rush. I do agree that grades shouldn't be in the rush questions, but they are.

How did someone as dumb as you are even get into TCU?

The reason the sororities care is because grades in college are important. Most girls who can't make above a 2.5 in highschool can't make it in college. We want successful girls.

The TCU requirement is 2.5 but each chapter has a different requirement, definitely above a 2.5
