sorority recruitment and gpa
by: Recruitment GPA Truth
Hello PNMs! With recruitment registration starting today, I wanted to give you all a little advice. There seems to be at least one person trolling this site and encouraging PNMs to lie about their GPAs. I'm not sure what that person's motives might be. Maybe they're a PNM trying to eliminate some competition for the top chapters that also have the hardest GPA requirements or maybe they're just a cruel human being. Whatever the case, please disregard this person and be truthful with your GPA.
1. TCU provides the sororities with all official GPAs for confirmation. If you are an incoming freshman, that's your high school GPA. If you're a transfer, that's your GPA from your previous college. If you're a TCU student already, that's your TCU GPA. This is what happens. There is no avoiding it.
2. At best, your GPA will be corrected and your true GPA will be used in membership selection decisions. If it's too low for that chapter, you will be cut. So you'd be cut whether you lied or not.
3. At worst, sororities will cut you for being a liar even if your real GPA was high enough. So you can be unnecessarily cut from those houses because you appear to be dishonest. You should also know that sorority sisters have lots of friends in other sororities. We talk to each other during recruitment. You don't want to be that lying girl everyone knows about.
Will you trust the person who's telling you to do something dishonest like fake your GPA or the people trying to help you?

One other thing. You may be upset that your GPA is too low for some of what you are seeing are the top houses here. It's true. Some of those chapters have a huge emphasis on their GPA and are very competitive about it. Consider this. If you couldn't get a better GPA in high school, do you really expect to be able to get a GPA that measures up to the members of the chapters that are around 3.5? Do you understand how miserable you could be in that environment? College is much harder on a lot of levels than high school is, even people who had perfect high school GPAs can struggle because it's so different and there are so many temptations. You may actually feel much more comfortable in a sorority that's a bit less academically competitive. All our sororities are great. Keep an open mind, don't lie about your GPA, and you should find a great sorority home!

I'm reading the comments above about people imploding in grades their freshman year, and I'm shocked. Because for the most part it isn't true. It is a statistical fact that most people's GPA's go up here at TCU from when they were in high school. That is because TCU does a good job guiding and helping students stay engaged. No need to scare PNMs.

It is never smart to begin a new journey based on a lie. You will get caught and humiliated when no house wants you. Be true to yourself and if your GPA wasn't that great in high school then know you will have to work much harder in college to make the grade. Too low of a GPA is cause to be dropped even once you are an active member.

Thank you for calling out the trolling that has been occurring and giving honest information. Our recruitment is competitive but people do try to support each other and a real member of our greek wouldn't lie about such a important topic. You can find good information on here but be careful because someone is trying hard to trip people up and out.

My college GPA is way higher than my high school GPA. Most people who went to my high school end up having a higher college GPA.
