my chances?
by: Transferring to TCUI'm currently at the university of Arkansas and was pledging a fraternity that does not have a chapter at TCU. I did not get initiated I dropped knowing I would be transferring to TCU. I have a lot of interest in either phi delt or lambda but I'm not from Texas I am from St. Louis. I will be a sophomore next year and I have a good friend in pi kapp, what are my chances of getting into phi delt or lambda or pi kapp?

hey I'm from STL too there are some guys in pi kapp and lambda from stl. I would reach out to your friend and try to get in contact with other guys from stl in other fraternities (like lambda also some stl guys in phi kapp and sig chi, delt) and maybe meet them over the summer. Thats the best way to go about rush is to meet some people over the summer so you already build a relationship. It for sure puts you ahead. As for phi delt you could try and figure out how to get in touch with one but I don't think there are many if any stl guys in it.

Since you've already rushed, a transfer student, and are at least a sophomore your chances of getting into good fraternity go down quite a bit. If i was you, i would definitely not tell the fraternities you are rushing that you have already rushed at a different school and dropped right before initiation... that's a huge "no-no". I've never met a single guy from stl at TCU either
Phi Delt is one of the more selective fraternities so I would give you a low chance of getting into them.
Lambda definitely is not considered a selective fraternity, if you go to one or two of their rush parties this summer you should be completely fine.
Pi kap looks for nerdy, camp counselor type, and generally more feminine rushees. if you meet any of those then you should have o problem at all. Like lambda they aren't at all considered a selective fraternity, should be fine.

Phi Delt is only southern. Sorry, but that's the truth. If you aren't from Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, or Georgia, it's unlikely you'll get a bid there.
Pi Kapp isn't a great house and therefore isn't very selective. Pretty easy to get a bid.
You will only get a Lambda bid if you played sports in high school.
In addition, it will be tough for you because if fraternities take sophomores at most the pledge classes will have two or three.
Good luck and hope this helps.

You really do not want to go Phi Delt. Though selective, they are quite irrelevant on campus, as in very little people actually know who they are. Lambda and PiKapp are both very well respected houses on campus and you cant go wrong with either one. They are two of girls' favorite fraternities (along with Sig Ep and Kappa Sig). Just dont stress about it.

There are some houses that pretty much fill their pledge class through summer parties where connection is all you need. Formal Rush is a more even playing field. Work any connections you have for summer invites and remember top depends on who you ask and nit everyone thinks PhiDelt is the best house around. You need to meet people before you think you know.
