I'm not sure any active can answer why a group isn't here but we have tremendous chapters currently at TCU and Phi Mu will be colonizing here in 2016.

Kappa Delta was at TCU from 1955 to 1993. They had many years as a thriving chapter, but significantly declining numbers in the late 80s to early 90s led to their closing. They occupied the current Sigma Kappa house.

Alpha Gamma Delta and Alpha Phi have also been at TCU but like KD had to close due to small numbers.

Thank you for the answer. KD is so good in so many places I am sadden and surprised. I hope that TCU will give KD a chance again in the future. I think KD has a stronger presence in Texas now and more alums in the area. Thank you for your help!

KD is particularly weak in Texas. They've lost a bunch of Texas schools because of low numbers and their remaining chapters are considered lower tier at those schools. TBH the only place they're strong is in a couple of southern schools.

Such a change with so many houses coming. It's hard to picture a chapter closing here.

Times were different. There was no RFM and chapters could invite back as many PNMs as they wanted to each round. Some sororities purposefully over invited to have full chapter rooms, which meant most PNMs had enough invites to be able to cut chapters early in the week. The house that was everyone's least favorite was dropped by almost everyone after the first day. Then that house never had enough PNMs left at their parties to make quota.

To make it worse, those chapters that purposefully over invited had far too many PNMs at 3rd round and Pref and that is when they made their very steep cuts. As a result lots of girls got completely cut from recruitment because they had already cut the other chapters and had no options left.

Kappa Delta had been a solid chapter. They had one rough rush and then the bottom began to fall out. Missed quota by a few one year, then more the next, then even more the next. It was hard to recover back then. RFM isn't perfect but it is much better than the old system.

I know Phi Mu is just starting to colonize but would TCU consider reopening a house that was closed years ago like KD?

By: 2017

It's possible.

First, TCU Panhellenic would have to decide that we are ready for a new sorority. This means all chapters are consistently making quota (including Phi Mu) and NM classes continue to be large.

When that decision is made all sororities not on campus are notified that we are open for expansion. Any sorority not here can submit a packet indicating their interest in being at TCU.

Once all packets are received Panhellenic picks 2-4 to come present on campus. After the presentations 1 is chosen to colonize. This may be a closed house or it may be one completely new to TCU. Panhellenic and the current chapters get to decide. Sometimes, like in the case of AOII and Phi Mu, 2 groups are selected with dates that are stacked 2-3 years apart.

That whole process can take up to 2 years.

Kappa Delta did not submit an interest packet the last time we were open.

KD is not strong nationally and are low tier at almost every school except a few in the south. The Texas chapter is low tier and does spring rush (for fill ins), even though they are what I consider a solid chapter there.

That is not an accurate representation of Kappa Delta.

KD at TX is not low tier and they did not give out spring bids--not in the last five years. Others did this fall and it was surprising. . Lots of misinformation provided in this string. I think TCU is worth pursuing again for a KD chapter. KD is huge in the SEC and strong nationally. KD at TX is thriving and competing well in a competitive environment. With so many outstanding girls going through, I think another sorority at TCU could do well.

You are delusional. UT KD is at the very bottom and always has been. Anyone in Texas knows that

KD is bottom FOR UT. If you look at them objectively, they're a great chapter.
