new houses and recruitment

by: curious

During the construction of the new houses, some chapters will have actual houses while some will still have dorm-styled buildings during recruitment. Won't this be and unfair advantage? Just curious!

ADPi is first up for a new building but I don't see them becoming first choice. It may seem like an advantage but you hope people are not too dumb to know they will have a house that's just the same soon. Having a traditional greek row with different size mansions gives advantage. That is a positive here. There is already so much competition at least the houses end up the same.

Good point. With noises being built it seems unlikely that would keep someone from pledging a group. If someone is that superficial then they will get what they deserve.

It looks like they have already started this process so no one can know how much will be done or if that will be an issue. As long as each group has somewhere to meet people it seems this shouldn't matter.

I think what you are talking about are more new dorms.

i heard that they are making it more like a neighborhood look instead of a giant parking lot with houses in a circle around it. In that case I am not sure how they will construct it but I assume they will be closing a lot of the parking lot. My guess is rush will not even be happening in the greek during construction

Parking is going to be horrible. I would not want to live in the Greek when they start building in earnest.

The big parking lot that is in the middle of the greek will be closed off during construction. The goal is to have a parking garage in the lot next to brachman that will take these spots. They are wanting a grassy area in the middle of the village.

Also, according to Res Life, ADPi will NOT be the first house. They are going based on building not based on who got here first. If you are interested in hearing more you can ask Res Life about the plans.

It will be great for incoming students but sucks while it is being built just like the library, parking garage...Come here in 4 more years and things will be set.

Not sure living in the Greek will be such a great idea after Christmas.

I couldn't agree more. The endless circling for a parking space and rent a cops on ticket overtime it has become a drag to deal with.

It is possible recruitment will be held somewhere other than in Greek housing next fall. If things are a huge mess that may be the only fair way to do this.

No one knows the answers to these questions yet but another location is a real possibility. That will make things so stressful and weird.
