This was the best recruitment in a while. Even with some people getting upset. (Which unfortunately seems to be part of it every year because we have more girls than houses can hold.) Every chapter did a great job and it seems like things were as fair as the process can allow for.

I wish that the figures given were more accurate up front. Knowing someone who did not get in this year who is now really struggling with it and being included socially is not a good start to college....to fail at the beginning. IS there help for these girls. Or options in the Spring?

We also have clubs or professional sorority groups for whatever she is studying. There is a group of water girls that help the baseball team. The list is ginormous. She will rise from this. Wishing all girls in the same boat good wishes. Xoxo

I really am so sorry to hear that. It's a great reminder for all of us to be sensitive to those who didn't get in and reach out beyond our sorority sisters in classes and elsewhere to foster friendships. Please encourage her to try again next year!! TCU is awesome and she'll find fun opportunities outside of sorority life.

That would be hard on anyone but if she tries a couple of the many organizations that should be out in force this week she may find her perfect fit. She may end up happier. If after a semester of these groups and classes she has made more friends but still longs to join a sorority then encourage her to inquire about spring rush. It's more about who you know but she will have a semester to meet people. Not every house holds spring rush but it is way less intense.

It is a rough process everywhere but particularly here with so many accomplished girls and houses that can only handle the same number of girls in buildings build decades ago. It sounds like a new, improved and bigger Greek row is coming and it can't get here too soon.

There will be some chapters which hold spring recruitment. It is too early to know which ones because it is normally those that loose members (including graduation) and want to up their numbers. It is a much quieter process and it is helpful to spend this semester getting to know girls in her dorms, classes, other groups etc. This lets them get to know her and be her advocate if their chapter holds spring recruitment. The is also HIS (our Christian sorority), the CREW that plans all the campus events. Don't give up.
