transfering sororities?

by: Allison

This last year I had to choose between Ole Miss and TCU, I loved TCU! But I went to Ole Miss for reasons I regret now... I was going to ask how it would work, or if it would even be possible to go through recruitment at Ole Miss and transfer to a sorority at TCU next year if the same sorority was present there? Thanks for any help in advance!!!

If you get initiated into a chapter at Ole Miss and transfer to TCU, you could reaffiliate with that chapter at TCU! There is a lot of paperwork involved, but it is definitely possible!

Take note on here of the houses we have so if possible you can join one where transferring is possible. It would be crummy to pledge something we don't have and not have the chance to remain actively greek at TCU.

If you have a good record and we have the house it would be usual for them not to welcome you here.

Paper work can be a hassle but this is very possible.

The advice from Greek above on this thread is the best way to go.

Phi Mu is supposed to be coming in the near future too. They have signed papers. Panhellenic is just waiting for AOPi to grow ( our newest group) before they will let Phi Mu open. If AOPi has a strong recruitment this year by next year we may have another group.

Not every chapter accepts transfers so you cannot be certain about this.

Most do but they don't have to especially if your Ole Miss grades turn out poor

Unless you have terrible grades or discipline actions most houses will accept you.

You would be wise to first check on which chapters we have that they have and then contact their alumni groups to see if this chapter normally accepts transfer students. Better yet, if you know you are coming here go through recruitment as a Sophomore. The plus side to Ole Miss is their numbers are a lot smaller so it's easier to get a house. I have friends in chapters there that would not have made the cut here.

Contact our chapter which you hope to transfer in to and see what they need from you to accept you as a transfer. The only way to get correct information is to go to the source.

If it is a top house they may not take transfers. We have so many excellent girls here that houses are not hurting for members.

Be very careful if you are expecting to transfer to a sorority at TCU and be happy. It will likely be a very different vibe from the initial chapter you joined, and worst of all, you will find yourself ostracized from the Greek community if your chapter is not considered "top tier" at TCU. It is a small and snobby Greek community, even if you were in a top house at your previous campus. SO DISAPPOINTED IN THE LACK OF INCLUSIVENESS FROM THE GREEK COMMUNITY AT TCU.

Mom, why did you dig up a five year ole thread? Why are you trying to insert yourself into a life that is no longer yours? Why would you think that anything you post on here would influence anything?
