size discrimination and body shaming hurts everyon

by: here is hoping

I'm really hoping that our school will embrace women of EVERY size and not discriminate based on something so superficial. It would be great if Panhellenic had a speaker come and speak about size discrimination so people can really understand it. We all do it, but we aren't our best self when we do.

This is a beautiful post. The reality is that TCU is a false environment with the majority of girls looking like models. It will be hard to change people because we are so hard on ourselves. It would wonderful though.

If everyone had such hurtful prejudice you would have refused a bid to Oprah. She would have been a heck of a member.

You will lead a pretty miserable life if everything you do is to please someone else.

This entire thread makes us all look awful. No matter which size you are on people need to stop commenting on this topic. It's an embarrassment to our university.

Because girls who don't care enough to take care of themselves aren't someone a lot of us would want to be around.

I'm not even large. But the fact that you would assume that someone doesn't take care of themselves just be their size is scary. I also think it is really even scarier that you would say you don't want to be around people you don't even know. This post is not and embarrassment to our university. You are who hate people you don't know are an embarrassment.

We can grow from looking at things differently. Women should NOT apologize for their size.

We can learn how being so unhealthy affects their well being and happiness.

Body size in not an indicator of health. Unless you have someone's medical records, you know nothing about their health.

Perhaps we can get a guest speaker to speak about size acceptance and size diversity. This gives us a chance to be on the cutting edge of things :)

Does this have two do with recruitment. Stop having a conversation with yourself wacko troll.

This was about recruitment and accepting women of all sizes and judging people by who they are on the inside. "or" took as an opportunity to hate people she doesn't even know based on body size. I just wish she would stop pretending it is about "health" and admit it is about being nasty. I don't blame bigger girls for avoiding recruitment with nasty people like her in our system.

You will not fix haters on here but you are successfully making us look wacky by reporting this over and over. If your a thin person who hates people or a plump person trying to focus them to accept you just let it rest on here and maybe seek some therapy if you don't understand why this is the wrong way to go about things. Seriously

Might I suggest you get some therapy. You are so obsessed with making our school look perfect that you can't handle someone making a few comments about affecting change to our system and our way of thinking. Talk about the "Southern Way" gone out of control. OP didn't say anything wrong. She just said she encourages people to select PNMs for membership based on interests, and character - not on size. Nothing wrong with that. Some people are trying to encourage PNMs to relax about their size - nothing wrong with that. We do need change in our Greek System. We need to value sisterhood over what a few guys think. I like what OP said, and I welcome change and welcome members of every size.

This post is very refreshing. OP was talking about acceptance in recruitment. Too bad it keeps getting covered up by the same questions about what brands to wear. Perhaps we should rethink our priorities.

There is a place for fitness queens and those that want to be more accepting. That's one great thing about being Greek. Different houses are good for different girls.

Please tell us what house you're in so we can know where us big girls will be accepted!

I'm hoping our body size doesn't dictate what house we are in. Hopefully houses have diverse body sizes.

Of course it dictates what house you'll end up in. Only the bottom chapters will be open to taking you, and that's only because they have to since they don't get the top pick PNMs. It's just like with guys, the thin girls get their picks and you end up alone. Life is so much better and normal when you're not obese.

the comment by hopefully is actually quite stupid. While it could affect your chances houses like ADPi isn't full of all bigger girls just like top houses like zeta don't have all super thin girls. Top houses aren't immune to bigger girls and I have seen a number in all houses like Zeta, Theta, and Chi O.

actually not a lie. Open your eyes. There are big girls in Tri Delt, there are big girls in Chi O, there are big girls in theta, and I've def seen big girls in Zeta. Stop lying to yourself. There are different percents of big girls in each house and ya sure top houses have a less amount but it isn't impossible. I didn't say probable but I do say possible
