if you don't have a super high gpa, don't worry.
by: relaxOkay. I'm hearing a lot of buzz about people freaking out over GPA. Some girls have said that they don't want to go through recruitment because they don't have above a 3.5 in high school. Do NOT believe these rumors. Here is is the truth: There are people on this website and people in general trying to really hard sell TCU as an academic school. While we all recognize academics is important, it is NOT the focus here. There is a wide variety of people here at TCU and a lot of kids are total partiers. GPA is a one factor in recruitment and not even close to the biggest factor. Relax. Be yourself and you will find the house for you.

Why would you try to say partying is more important to our college than academics? TCU has become one of the hardest universities to get in to in Texas and it isn't because of partying. Yes, we have that down too.
There has been way more hate on here toward some poor girl who admitted she was large than anyone's GPA. You are protesting about a non issue. If you are dumb, you don't get in here. Your entire premise is sketchy.

I actually appreciate this post. I have been a nervous wreck because my HS GPA is not outstanding. I feel like I still have a lot to offer a sorority. I'm hoping that people will give me a chance despite not be super book smart. I pray people will see what I have to offer.

Nobody said they don't want to study in college. They are just saying that you can go through recruitment with lower than a 3.5. Geeeesh...mellow out. I got into TCU with a 2.7 in High School, and I got a good sorority. I now have a 3.4 in college. A lot of people do better in college than high school, because you are taking classes that interest you on your terms. I welcome diversity and learning differences are part of diversity.

You need a reality check. Have you met some of the guys in fraternities? Typical California guys with loads of money but couldn't get into good schools in California so they want to "go away to college" and have fun. There are loads of meathead guys here. You don't need a good GPA and/or SAT to get in here. Just enjoy going to a party school.

There was the most adorable PNM last year who went through recruitment with a low GPA. She has a learning disability. Everyone LOVED her and she would have fit in perfect to our house. The mean ole bean counters wouldn't let my group take her. I'm still angry about it. She got into a house and has gotten help with her learning disabilities and has a great GPA. Wish we could have taken her.

Thank you for posting this. I have an average GPA and I have been very worried. I know that a few sororities might drop me, but I'm feeling good that if I maximize my invites I will get one sorority. I really don't need to be in Name sorority. Just looking for the experience and sisterhood and connection for life. I do have a learning disability, but I'm not going to say that during rush, because it doesn't define me. I can manage it.

I don't think OP said anyone was dumb. Just that you can get into a sorority with less than a 3.5. Get a life.
