how short is too short
by: dressI was wondering about pref night. I have this dress and it is adorable. Very classy and cute, not tight or anything. It completely covers everything but I am wondering if it may be too short. It goes like to the middle of my thigh. You can not see anything at all but I would hate for this to be an issue. All of my outfits up until this one I feel super confident about and they are all a great length but I love this dress and don't know what to do! Any suggestions?

For rule of thumb, I tend to follow finger tip length on dress length when standing. But remember you will also sit down once in the house so make sure you feel as confident in your dress sitting as you are standing!
Pref round is probably the most stressful rounds for girls so if you end up not feeling 100% on this dress, I would look for another. You will have enough going on that you don't want to be worrying about dress length!

Asking a Rho Gamma and having a backup choice to be safe seems the smartest solution. If you are giving it this much thought I bet your outfits are just fine.

I agree with the others that you should ask your Rho Gam or just try something else so you don't have this worry on your mind. Things are hard enough. It makes me sad to keep seeing how freaked out everyone is. Be your best, be open minded about our houses and it will all work out. The nice thing is that you can't mess up. There is not one horrible house on this campus. They just have different things they focus on.

For pref most of the houses (at least the ones I went to) had more space between each chair, so you will not have to be bending in weird ways so you should be fine! We've seen much much much worse so don't worry!

Honestly, if it's something you're doubting and might not be so confident wearing, I would go with another dress. It's probably just fine but if it's something that's going to be on your mind, then you're not going to be able to focus on the party and conversation as well if you're worried about it. Also, you don't want to end up being that girl who fidgets with her dress all through preference. Wear something that makes you look beautiful, classy and feel confident!
