They're really the most time consuming during the first semester freshman year before initiation. The whole chapter has weekly chapter meetings but new members usually have separate meetings on top of chapter for most sororities. Also a lot of houses require their members be involved in a certain number of things things around campus whether that be Panhellenic stuff, community service, other house's philanthropies ect. That on top of weekly meetings and figuring out school first semester just ends up taking lots of time.

I would agree that the first answer gives you a good overview of what you will need to juggle your first semester. Sometimes it can be overwhelming but you will make and and things calm a little after initiation.

I'm starting my Sophmore year so adjusting to college requirements is fresh. It is doable and worth it but all the activities listed plus your real class work was somewhat overwhelming at first. All things that are worth doing require work though and I could not imagine not being greek at TCU.

This is something all incoming freshmen have to adjust to. Add the class work, living in a box with another person, being on your own for real plus all the Greek stuff is a lot to get used to. For me staying busy and connected through my sorority helped so much though. You have sisters going through the same thing, study buddies and partners to hang and socialize with. It will be hard but worth it. The first year is sink or swim time for most college students.

This thread gives some good information to think about. If you are new to college the single most important skill to develop is time management. This thread lets you have a glimpse of what is ahead. It's not to freak you out but to help you develop the mindset it takes to make it.

Even without going Greek college is a big adjustment. Yet being Greek you will be more connected and have kind of a safety net in place with your sisters.
