letters of support

I'm from California, I have never heard of letters of support. Are they the same as rec letters? I have rec letters for most sororities, do I need letters of support, and what are they?

Recommendations/Support letters are interchangeable terms.

Rec Letters are like forms that are kind generalized. Someone wouldnt have to know you all that well to fill it out where letters of support are letters that a person writes to state dpecifically why you would be a good addition to their organization. They are not required but with competition so high that are good to have.

They aren't nwccasry but nice to have if you have contacts that know you well enough.
