Lower tier sororities do it more, but others do too. For the upper sororities you kind of have to know someone in the sorority to have a shot. It doesn’t happen on bid day. On bid day there are snap bids where if a house doesn’t meet quota they can give out bids to girls they had dropped earlier or who dropped out of recruitment. COB happens both semesters and it is when a house isn’t at quota they hold events. They are more casual than rush and are like a craft or movie or something at the house normally. A lot of the time at upper ones it just goes to people who are already friends with the girls. In others it is just if they can see you as a friend. If normal rush doesn’t work out then it is another way to get a bid or just if normal rush isn’t something you want to do. Most COB are for less popular chapters and only a handful do it so you won’t have as many options as normal rush. There also aren’t very many spots versus normal rush where they have a whole bid class to fill.
