GPA too low to rush?

by: PNM

Hi y’all, I’m going to be rushing as a transfer student and a sophomore and have questions about my gpa. My transfer GPA isn’t very high but meets requirements (3.1) however my high school GPA is really high (3.8 unweighted). Will sororities take this into consideration? PS, I took some challenging courses such as calculus, will this be kept in mind?

Don't try to second guess what the sororities are going to think about you. You may have qualities that overcome your GPA. Nobody on here can tell you anything without meeting you first. Show confidence and focus on how you present yourself in conversations and appearance because those things matter too.

I got cut by 8 houses after the first round. GPA matters y’all. Don’t rush with anything below a 3.5

You have no business telling anyone not to rush. Your experience is your own has nothing to do with anyone else's. Four sororities did not cut you, but sorry you can only focus on the negative.

I wasn’t telling anyone to not explicitly rush, I was giving anyone who is on the fence about going through the process a reality check because I sure as hell needed one. And as someone who had recs for all houses and even legacy affiliations, I was only asked back to 2 houses that I didn’t initially drop. On top of this, it’s totally valid to be disappointed in not receiving back a full schedule during recruitment. Instead of commenting things that add no value to a conversation, try spreading actual positivity.

Grace cut offs for freshman are much higher than transfers. A 3.1 coming from college is fine for most houses lol

I mean all the houses have an average gpa above a 3.5 so recruiting an upperclassmen below that isn’t ideal.

You will prob get dropped from academic houses like chi o and theta. but if the girls really like you, and maybe you have a hard major you’re fine. A 3.1 is like a B average so you’re fine.
