incoming nursing major

by:

I have been accepted into the School of Nursing for the fall semester. All I hear is how demanding it is. Can you be successful in nursing and still be greek? Are there chapters that have more nursing majors than others? Thank you for honest advise.

Nursing majors are in Gamma Phi and Theta in larger numbers. There may be some in any house though. Look at the stronger academic houses if you need to make grades to be successful. Good luck!

Nursing major is an extremely popular major for many sorority members and even some guys. My roommates always are studying with other sisters for exams and such, and there are also plenty of older girls who give advice on teachers, clinicals, etc. so while nursing is a difficult major, being Greek has it's at advantages in the department!

I am a current nursing major and member of GPB. We do have a lot of members that choose this major. My older sisters have been very helpful with tips and encouragement. Now that I'm in clinical's I can say I have met great friends from most houses. There are a lot of Theta, Chi O and A Chi O girls too. Every house is represented and I have enjoyed meeting them all. . It takes balancing your studies with greek life to succeed. I do agree with the first post that GPB and KAT have lots of nursing majors but there are amazing girls from every house. Congratulations on choosing a life changing major. You will do just as well choosing your house (remember GPB) no matter which group your join. Welcome to TCU Nursing!

There are members from every house in Nursing. You have to be dedicated and balanced and you will do fine.

Every group has nursing majors but you do have to been strong academically to get through it. Theta, Chi O, Gamma Phi and A Chi O have the highest grades and lots of nursing girls.

This is a honest answer. All houses have nursing majors but these 4 have the most for sure.

I am a sophomore nursing student and a member of a sorority. There is someone in my classes from every single sorority! I love nursing because it has given me an opportunity to grow closer with not only the nursing majors in my sorority but also the nursing majors in every other sorority. I don't think there are a lot of majors at TCU like nursing where you are able to name every single one of your classmates.

These is such a honest answer. Nursing is a unique majors where you start sharing real world experiences (like practicing blood pressure on each other or helping care for hospital patients in the hospital together) you grow close to everyone in your class no matter their house. We all support each other and study together. It is hard but so worth it.

The message right before this is so true. All nursing majors support each other and become close. If you are determined to put the time in, any sorority girl can be successful in nursing. I've met awesome girls from about every house.

I am a nursing major too. It is one our more time consuming majors on campus. You will get closer each year with your fellow nursing students from every house. With that said, I chose one of our more academically focused houses because I didn't want to be known as the loser who was always studying while all my fellow sisters were out partying. My house still goes out but since it is less of our focus I always have a like minded sister to study with before the major exams...Chi O, Gamma Phi and Theta are our academic houses. I have gotten to be close to girls from lots of houses but for a nursing major I still think these three will be your best fits.

This link does state the truth. Although as a Senior I can promise their are nursing majors from all houses and as you do clinical's together you all become friends.

Nursing is very demanding. Unless you're extremely smart/motivated, its hard. At TCU, you basically have to go greek or else you literally wont have a life, but if you're averagely smart be prepared to study about 30-40 hours for each test. It's a pretty big time commitment.

Also, every sorority has nursing students. There was a wide variety of sororities in my anatomy class last year. Dont base what sorority you go in by how many people of your major there are in it. Every sorority has girls in almost every major, and nursing is so big at TCU that every sorority has girls that will be struggling with you no matter what you choose.
