You immediately get the stress over and jump into a new house of sisters and activities.

You jump in to greek life with both feet before you know anything. You should enter each house for the new experience it is. You are immediately trust into a whole group of of friends to serve as mentors and supporters in this new world. All this before you hit the books:)

The other thing is it really helps get a start on getting good grades because you have to. College is really different and even if you had a perfect high school GPA, it's really easy to slack, get behind and flame out your first semester. When you have the extra accountability of a making your sorority GPA, it can really help your focus. I had a couple of friends who couldn't even rush at SMU because they destroyed their GPA during their first semester.

The disadvantage is people judge each other both directions before they can know one another but the plus is becoming keyed in right away and not worrying about school work at the same. It is what it is so if you come here be ready to hit the ground running.

You will be grateful once its over because you are plugged in with friends from the beginning. I cannot imagine all the stress of recruitment while class was going on. Plus, my friends that have to wait until mid year have spoken to me about feeling "judged" for half a year.

You don't want to wait until you have the stress of class and then top it off with recruitment. Jump in feet first and get involved!
