rush
by: ?Question for the sorority sisters- What are advantages of such an early rush? I really like TCU but the other school I'm interested in does sorority rush later which makes more sense to me.

Well, one advantage that I personally benefited from was the fact that I was never alone! It was nice to immediately get involved and start getting to know people. Another thing thatI enjoyed was the fact that there isnt anything else to stress about in august. You don't have to worry about balancing school and rush like you would in the winter or spring!

College is a big adjustment and some find it easier having connections and friendships right away and can then better focus on school. Others may feel like they need more time to figure out exactly how they fit in and which group they feel they best connect with. Rush is such an exhausting experience emotionally and physically that it is nice to have only that to worry about for a week. Having to balance school and rush is a tremendous amount of pressure for some people. Some big negatives about waiting to Rush is that you make friends your fall semester and then can end up pledging all different houses and that can be difficult. Also, your best friend may not get what she wants and you do or vice versa. All your close friends end up in the same sorority you were cut from. There are so many added dimensions to rushing after you have been on campus a semester. You may look at what your friends are doing rather than what is best for you. Rush does give you a great opportunity to get a feel for each house and most girls going through end up in the right house. TCU has so many great options you will not go wrong with any of the houses. Personally I think rushing before school is a better option. You have a more open mind and can more clearly decide where you fit in rather than worrying about where your friends are pledging and what their opinions may be.
