new sorority

by:

For all the rumors going around about a new chapter: I have heard from many people that the new chapter will be Phi Mu. TCU 360 has an old article from 2011 stating that two new chapters were coming to TCU in Fall of 2012 and Fall of 2014. AOPi was obviously chosen for Fall 2012, and the next one must have been Phi Mu for Fall of 2014. You can look at the Phi Mu national website and it says they will be colonizing at TCU. It also states on the Phi Mu wikipedia page that they will be colonizing at TCU in Fall of 2014. I could be wrong, but from the looks of it, it will be Phi Mu. I personally think this is unfair to AOPi to bring a new sorority in so soon after they started though...

If AOPi does well this year with recruitment and maintaining their numbers you can bet this new group is ready to get going.

So many girls going without bids shows we need another house. The problem more than AOPi is where would they fit. We have been told a new Greek row is supposed to be built after the parking garage. Let's hope they can at least begin this process for fall 2015. More houses that are also larger are desperately needed. If TCU wants to promote how important Greek is on campus they need the facilities to prove it.

Couldn't agree more! I was in a sorority in college, and I think it is terrible that so many girls ended up without a bid. This is not what the greek system is about. Since the Greek system has such a presence at TCU, it is important that all girls are given the chance to join a sorority if they chose to. I hope they bring Phi Mu by 2015 and add additional sororities if needed. It's important that everyone keep an open mind.

Phi Mu was actually voted the top national sorority by News Week last year. They will be a positive addition and one we need to accommodate all our incoming girls.

I just saw this post and think this is good news. We need more room to accommodate all our girls. I think this will help AOPi because the old houses always give grief to the new ones even if it isn't deserved.

I agree. I had originally heard the spring of 2014, but heard that it will definitely not happen then. Since TCU is growing, and accepting a large number of women , they need to expand the Greek system to allow more girls to be in a sorority.

I know I don't know much about all this yet but it seems like AOPi still needs support to grow before you bring in another house. Just my opinion.

Phi Mu will be tabling this spring and colonizing in the fall. AOII needs support still, yeah, but with a new chapter coming to campus less girls will go bidless. In the end, it will help our panhellenic community grow!

It is a shame AOPi cannot have one more year to pull a strong group in place.

It is important to think about the incoming girls that want to belong to a sorority. By now allowing a new sorority to help AOPI, is not fair to the incoming girls next year. Too many girls were bidless this year. Perhaps, some girls may have be prematurely cut.
