new sorority

by:

For all the rumors going around about a new chapter: I have heard from many people that the new chapter will be Phi Mu. TCU 360 has an old article from 2011 stating that two new chapters were coming to TCU in Fall of 2012 and Fall of 2014. AOPi was obviously chosen for Fall 2012, and the next one must have been Phi Mu for Fall of 2014. You can look at the Phi Mu national website and it says they will be colonizing at TCU. It also states on the Phi Mu wikipedia page that they will be colonizing at TCU in Fall of 2014. I could be wrong, but from the looks of it, it will be Phi Mu. I personally think this is unfair to AOPi to bring a new sorority in so soon after they started though...

Thank you for sharing some real facts. I agree they are not giving AOPi much time to become settled if other group will start in the fall. Are school is growing so fast and with 1000 girls rushing last year we may need a new group so all who what to go Greek have a home.

I could not agree more. when i went through rush, all who wanted to be a sorority were given a bid. It may not have been their first choice, but the person was able to make the decision. Unfortunately, at TCU great girls are being rejected. This is not the way it should be so. I'm glad to hear that a new sorority is coming to TCU.

I actually heard that that was the original plan, but that TCU has made a deal to wait to give the green light once the "time is right" So it could be fall 14 but that it could be later. By the looks of it I don't think they will be colonizing in fall 14

Phi Mu would be a good addition. Each house is responsible for forming themselves and keeping relevant. There are some older houses that need work. If AOPi has members that dedicated they should be fine. They won't suffer from new house harrasment anymore. It may make them more appealing.

Phi Mu is a listed as a charter member at TCU and should be opening up a house in the not too distant future.

By then AOPi will be in their third year. They should have things together by then. Plus we had more girls than ever rush last year there were those that got NO bids even when they accepted all invites back. We have too many girls for our current houses. AOPi won't be the new house when Phi Mu comes so they should be happy because it will raise people interst in AOPi. The new houses always is the least desirable fair or not.

Agreed-this should be a welcome addition. With over 1000 girls going through rush there is plenty of candidates.

I'm from out of state, and in my home state Phi Mu is bottom tier at one state school and had their chapter closed for lack of members at the other state school. I can't see that they're the best fit for us.

Just like any chapter it is more about the girls that get involved here that how they are perceived at a out of state school

Newsflash! Every sorority has weaker and stronger chapters nationwide. Every sorority. Phi Mu has a ton of strong chapters but, just as other sororities, it also has some weak ones too.
