as someone from out of state
by: out of statei’m in the bathroom rn and someone is on the phone with maybe her mom and they were talking about the connections she has with girls in chi o and how she is hoping her friendships will get her in and i didn’t realize how much of that was important. i’m from out of state and dont know anyone here.. do i still have a shot at getting a bid without having the insider connection leg up? i’m really stressed

If you have two houses at pref, congrats, you are on their bid lists, so rank both your houses and get a bid from one of them. Guaranteed. If you have only one pref house, put that house on your card and sleep well because, congrats, you are running there on bid day. Guaranteed. If you have two houses and only rank one, you are maybe getting a bid and maybe not, so don't do this, rank both and get you a bid.

It is absolutely true that if you are only invited to pref at one house and you attend that pref and put them on your card, you will be getting that bid. 100%.

Suggest you check NPC rules before you say that. You are guaranteed the bid if you only have the one house at pref.
