Does anyone know which houses went over Quota?
by: quota?I have been hearing that ALL houses made quota. I am sure the houses must all be happy about that. Trying to determine about doing COB rushing in the spring. Everyone says get to know the members in the houses you like. But, if all houses went over then they probably are not taking new members. Would that mean no COB rushing in the spring?

COB has nothing to do with quota. A chapter can participate in COB if the total number of people in the chapter (freshmen - seniors) is under a certain number. Pretend like that number is 200. If the total number of girls in a chapter falls below the number 200, then that chapter can recruit additional girls through COB (if they wish) until they reach chapter total or 200. Sometimes chapters fall below the total number because they didn't recruit to quota during formal rush, and sometimes they will fall below because of graduating seniors or members dropping out.

I thought the process and outcomes are driven by a computer program. If that is so wouldn't all chapters make quota during rush? Isn't the number of chapters just divided by the number of PNMs and that is how they get rush quota. I guess it must be girls not accepting bids or dropping out. What confuses me is how houses go over quota. Why would that happen? If the houses reaches quota wouldn't the girls lower on the pref list that selected that house 1st get their 2nd choice?

Some girls will drop out after pref, and some will only list one choice instead of two after pref. Either of those options might lead to a girl not receiving a bid. If a girl maximized ALL of her options and never released a sorority unless she was required to, she should have been given one of her two houses from pref. Because of that rule, some houses had to go over quota to insure that those girls who maximized ALL options during rush received a bid on bid day.
