I saw this under a thread about Alpha Omicron Pi shutting down and thought it needed its own post:

"This Greek Community is to blame. AOII was new to TCU and relatively less known among this region. They were not given a chance from the start and other groups gained up and perpetuated that it was social suicide to even consider being a member. You all love having that one group who is the scape goat. The, “at least we aren’t the bottom chapter”. It is a mind set that is exclusionary and derogatory. Being a Greek member of any chapter should be enough and you all made it akin to a whole host of superficial things that are purely unkind."

Could not agree more to the comment above...from an article in TCU 360.

A member who asked to remain anonymous because she isn’t authorized to speak on the organization’s behalf, provided the following statement:

“Collegiate members and alumnae volunteers for the chapter have experienced sustained difficulty recruiting and retaining members, and despite their dedication, and efforts of the Fraternity to support and guide the chapter, these efforts were unsuccessful,” she said. “More importantly, the lack of reputational standing within the community meant that our members were not having the experience that we hope for all of our collegiate sisters to have.”

This was not a quote from an “anonymous member”. It is literally a direct quote from the statement released by Alpha Omicron Pi’s headquarters.

This is beyond sad. All chapters at TCU Should be respected. But as a pledge I was told to drop before before joint adpi or alpha omnicron pi.
