question
by: lisabeth1I have a question, once you join a sorority and want that wasn't really the one you wanted, accepted bid at site, not card, can I quit after a day? I am really confused as to what happened and I made a choice in a rash, instant moment. I don't want to be in this sorority, I never intended to, but now I don't want to risk any future rushing opportunities? Please advise.

You're bound for a year to the house you accepted the bid from. Just a suggestion. There are a lot of girls in each sorority. All the sororities are good. Why don't you throw yourself into the fun of the house with all your heart and forget about the houses that didn't want you. Have fun really getting to know your sisters. If you don't like the first one, meet more. I guarantee you will find a house that you love if you go into it with your whole heart.

Wonderful advice on the post before mine. If choose not to follow it then you will be the one missing out on the possibilities. Whatever the house is they accepted you. You have heard story after story of those that would given a lot to be given a bid. Btw, don't expect rush to be easier next year so whatever house you think is golden could easily not work out again. Give your new sisters a chance and you may be surprised.

Well, if you choose to drop from your sorority with the intent of joining another you must do so BEFORE becoming initiated. Once initiated, even if you leave the sorority, you will not be eligible to join another. If you drop before initiation you are not eligible to take another bid until the following year-so no spring rush/open recruitment opportunities.
I would recommend you to stay in the sorority you accepted a bid from for now and wait a few more weeks. Give it a chance! You might end up really liking the girls! If you really just aren't fitting in and don't want to be in the sorority, you should then resign before you are initiated.

if you did poorly during recruitment this time, odds are as a sophomore its going to be even harder for you, especially if more girls decide to go through recruitment next year making that year more competitive than this year. odds are dropping out of this sorority you are accepting the fact that you will not be greek at all. stay in the sorority and see what happens.
