How are all the sophomores of recruitment doing thus far? Have many of them been dropped?

My daughter took her max bids every day. She was completely opened to every house. She didn't enjoy every house but still gave her best effort and did her max picks every day only to get completely dropped today.

it was probably her grades and there isn't anything to do about hs grades to get ready for recruitment -- she can make great grades at TCU and try again

Don't be so hard on yourselves. Many chapters do open recruitment. To below, I know zeta did last semester.

It's very sad, but PNMs are not lead on or promised a bid. They are recruited, flattered, listened to, told they're beautiful, perfect, etc. But in the end, they have to know that all the PNMs are being told similar things. Who would go through recruitment if they were being told "you're okay looking but not great," "I've seen girls today with much better grades," "everybody has been on a mission trip, please don't tell me about it," etc. No one would, so they don't do that. They act interested and tell girls what they want to hear. But they DON'T promise bids or tell them that they'll be invited back the next day. There are rules against that. Your daughter heard what she wanted to hear, and probably the girls she talked to were sincere. But when voting starts, that girl is not in charge of where she ends up on the list. Nor is she in charge of how far down the list they go to get full parties. It's all a crapshoot and I'm sorry your daughter is disappointed.

This is the best comment ever. I wish all PNMs would read this.

So true! Did they expect people to be rude to them? It's not that no one wanted you, it was just that they wanted other people more.

Why are so many legacies being dropped? Back when recruiting seemed a little more fair they were always honored and it was never heard of to drop a legacy. Only seems right to keep one.

Sorry but there are way more legacies in this day and age than there were when you were young. Some houses could fill their entire pledge classes with legacies if they didn't take into account whether they fit in well or not. A legacy is never guaranteed a bid and never has been. You should have consulted your sorority policy beforehand and made sure you and your daughter understood it. Unrealistic expectations cause a lot of this hurt.

People have tried to warn others on here that Chi O, DDD and Zeta are pretty brutal and do not always honor legacies. I don't know which house your daughter wanted but there are so many legacies for some houses it doesn't seem to matter. I am so sad to learn some girls who went to every house did not receive a bid. I agree this would be heartbreaking and not lift these young ladies up. It may not help now, but The Lord has a plan for them all and TCU has so many opportunities to become involved that I hope you can encourage your daughters to choose another group to bond with new friends. Your daughters ARE special or they wouldn't been accepted to TCU. Less than 10% of applicants are accepted. Some houses will hold spring rush to increase membership so she may want to try then. Best wishes to all these girls<3

Oh please, I don't think The Lord gets involved in sorority recruitment.

Will any of the newer houses have open rush after formal recruitment? Maybe that's an option for some of these girls.

AOPi is the only new house. This is their first year of regular rush. There is no way to know until after Bid this afternoon if they, or any house, will have spaces left. Usually a few groups hold spring rush because they have had members who drop once they join the house or find a need to leave TCU either due to grades or finances.

AOPi is still way below total but I'm sure all these special snowflake perfect daughters are way too good for the new sorority.

You parents need to get off this web site. You are not making things better for your kids by posting here. Trust me.

TCU may be great but estimating 10% of applicants are accepted is so far from the truth that's it's laughable..... That's almost the same as UC Berk which is FAR FAR FAR FAR more high achieving academically than TCU will ever be
