ca kids liking tcu
by: hsjuniorI''ll be going into my senior year soon and am considering where to apply for college. I noticed that a lot of the kids who go TCU from my surrounding high schools end up transferring back close to home in CA to places like Santa Clara or LMU. These schools aren't really more prestigous (esp. nationally) so I was wondering if any current students have insight on why that is. I know this is not greek related and probably not the best platform to ask these types of questions so sorry in advance. thanks!

A lot of kids who go far away for college and don’t have connections in the area end up transferring closer to home because they miss their families and the regional culture is different. It’s less about the school itself and more about how independent you are. If you’re sure you really like it here, go for it.

I'm from California and I wouldn't go here again. I've stayed, and made the most of it, because transferring is a pain, but if I could do it over I would go Chapman or Pepperdine. I got into both of those, but chose TCU and that was a mistake because I'm not conservative. Yes, I know Pepperdine is conservative too, but not in the same way. Also, I'm not super Christian, and although there are other low-key Christians here, getting a job in California or the east coast could prove difficult with a TCU diploma.
