recruitment week
by: ...
Girls drop out of recruitment week every year because they have decided before it even starts what house they want. When they get dropped, they feel like they can't go on. They think maybe next year they can get either that house or another "top" house. BUT, if you're dropped as a freshman (freshmen get about 99% of the bids), why do you think a house will want you as a sophomore? They won't. Really. You have almost no chance your sophomore year.
My suggestion is to look everyday at the houses you have left. They are the ones that want you. Choose the ones you like best from those and forget the ones who rejected you.
The real truth is that in the greek community, no one looks down on any sorority. They do feel bad for independents as ones who couldn't or wouldn't fit into greek life. So choose the sorority that you like best from the ones who like you the best.
Please don't drop out. Give sisterhood a chance!

Every house at TCU is respectable and someone would be very foolish to drop for a house that didn't find them desirable. Seriously, be grateful to the houses who do care for you. With around 1000 girls, there isn't anything you won't have competition for. Don't miss out on a lifetime of friend by being immature and buying in to the "we are better" rants on here. You will regret it!

Best advice ever! And I would say that the greeks don't look "down" on independents, but they do see them as a group apart from their own group. Not many girls in sororities date independents or take them to date parties, etc. I don't think they admire their "independent spirit" or anything because the reason people stay in the greek system is that it has so much sisterhood to offer. They're not staying in because of herd mentality!

If a house thinks enough of you to invite you back to see about allowing you to be their sister and you do not receive that as a compliment you are seriously immature. You will be rushing with around 1000 other beautiful, intelligent, wealthy top of the barrel girls from many states; so every house will have bunches of girls to choose from. Real sisterhood means they see something in you that makes you stand out to them. If you drop out because the letters are different than you "dreamed" they would be you will be making a huge mistake. GO GREEK!!!!!!!!

Go with a house that wants and respects you or you will not be happy. Once your in a house friendship is what matters not the letters. Plus you cannot know the real truth about a house by what you here about it or if its a name you know. The girls inside are what counts! To choose for any other reason, or to drop rush is totally juvenile!

I am so sick of hearing actives promote their houses regardless of whether they're telling the truth or not, alumna who are promoting their chapter based on how things used to be, and moms who want their daughters' houses to shine.
PNMs, please read this advice and realize that everyone else writing on here has an agenda that they're trying to get you to believe. Please think for yourself and don't fall for it!

To drop out because of a group that didn't think enough of you to invite you back would be crazy. Despite some of the mean remarks you may read on here every house has aspects that make them right for someone. You are looking for lifelong friendship not just letters for a T shirt!!! Go Greek!!!!
