Thats not true. If you only want to go with a certain house, then yes... but some of the "top" chapters take sophomores, even in open recruitment.

You can't know which house is best! You certainly won't by looking at the posts with personal agendas on here. If you go into rush with an open mind and are respectful to who asks you back you will end up with a house that wants you. To drop out of rush because you didn't get 1 house is stupid. Why would they want you the next time around and why do you want to join a house that under values you?? If you do this and end up independent you deserve to not fit in. There are quality girls in every TCU house!

If someone drops out because they don't a house that they really can't know then it is sorry to feel sorry for them. It is time to grow up and appreciate those who want to be your sisters!

You would be very foolish to drop out because a house doesn't want when there are others that think you are worth investing in. You don't really know about a house by rumors or others opinions on here. Be open to houses who appreciate you. If you can't do that then you are the one who is losing out.

This is the best post ever. The sophomore girls that get bids almost always have a best friend in the house who's mission is to get them a bid. Just a casual friend won't work. You need someone dedicated to making it happen. Therefore, you should not drop out of recruitment your freshman year thinking you can make a better situation the next year. Ain't gonna happen.

Finally: Someone gives some great advice! Like the poster above noted, the sophomores who get bids are usually good friends with girls in the houses who are pulling for them, or really outstanding transfer students. If a house invites you back, they are showing they see something in you to want you for a sister. If you don't get invited back to a certain house, consider it their loss and move on.

The houses at TCU are all wonderful houses! Don't think you know what house will be best for you before you even into one. Be open to sisterhood from those who wish to offer it to you. If you drop out you are denying yourself the chance at sisters who thought positively about you. That's a terrible choice.

You want a group of sisters that are going to care about you. If a house drops you they weren't the right group for you. Appreciate the houses that think you are special enough to invite back because there you will find real friends. If someone drops because they aren't invited back to a house that doesn't want them they are making a huge mistake.

While I agree with the majority of this post, I don't think it is okay to sat that "the greek community looks down on independents." I don't think that is right at all. I've heard some people say that the respect people that didn't give in to the pressure of going greek. Independents are just as important on campus as the greek community is!
