TCU is a strong academic school. Grades count! Each house has different standards but if your grades are low your choices will be limited. TCU has one of the most competitive recruitments around.

Is a 2.9 ok?

The top in grades are Theta, XO, GPhi. If grades aren't your strongest suit, these might not be the houses for you.

Theta, XO and Gamma Phi members would have higher GPA's than a 2.9. Some of the houses that are just interested in partying might not care. Competition during recruitment is tough though so don't set your standards low. Kappa was last in grades but that probably shouldn't be your goal. TCU is a strong academic school so plan on working hard. It will be worth it.

Amen! Set your standards high when choosing a house and academically. TCU is a top rate school so average won't cut it on any level.

If you don't care about academics then TCU may not be right for you. It is tough but that is part of why it is so well respected.

Agree with all the posts. I don't know how you could get into TCU with a 2.9 GPA? That's not a selling point for you during recruitment. If your thinking you will slack off at TCU and set such a low goal you may not make it through. Top in grades are Theta, XO and Gamma Phi, they would be out. Last in grades is ADPi which in also a bottom house and Kappa which has lost lots of respect! Push yourself harder, have more choices and make the most out of being at a top school.

Theta, XO and Gamma Phi have the highest grades. They would expect better from their members. ADPi, DDD and Kappa are lowest in grades so they might accept a 2.9. You really need to set your personal standards higher though. TCU is a top school all around including academics.

Honestly, it makes me so sad to see that people in TCU's panhellenic community are bashing other sororities grades ESPECIALLY since some of this information is completely false. If any of the people that posted had done their research, they would have found that Kappa has done extremely well with grades and has really done a stellar job as a chapter. Every chapter at TCU has their fair share of Neeley Fellows, successful nursing majors, business majors etc..Sure, there are some chapters that year after year excel in terms of grades but I am so disappointed to see that members of the panhellenic community feel the need to bash other sororities to make themselves look superior. Also for the person that posted above me "they might accept" is none of your business to say because you are clearly not a member of ADPi, DDD or Kappa and you have no idea what their standards and expectations are.
